Exeter Youth Lacrosse Association
2010 Welcome Letter

Welcome interested lacrosse players and parents, please read to the end:

The coaches and staff of the Exeter Youth Lacrosse Association (EYLA) welcome you to the 2010 lacrosse season. For those of you unfamiliar with our program, the EYLA is a total volunteer organization. We are not sponsored or funded by the school district or the town recreation department. The program is run by a Board of Directors and a volunteer coaching staff along with the assistance of the parents of all players. We are dedicated to the instruction of the game of lacrosse, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play. The EYLA is open to all students who reside within the boundaries of the SAU-16 school district and those surrounding towns that do not currently field a youth lacrosse team.

This year we will try something new at the U9 and U11 levels for the boys and girls. All U9 players will be involved in a house league. House league teams will practice 1 or 2 times per week for 1 hour and play 7 vs 7 games on Saturday mornings. All house league games will be played in Exeter. House league teams will not travel. At the U11 level we will have a house league plus, if we have enough players interested in fielding a travel team, we will have a travel team as well. This will be determined once registration is complete.

All players, at each level, will play in each of their games. EYLA plans to field travel teams at the following levels: U13 – boys & girls, and U15 – boys & girls. If we have sufficient players in any of the U13 or U15 groups we will field A & B level teams. The "A" teams will have tryouts. We will announce a place and time for tryouts once it is determined that we have enough players to field two teams at that particular level. Players who try out for an "A" team and do not make it are automatically placed on the "B" team in their age bracket.

The EYLA teams will begin to practice, weather permitting, at the beginning of April 2010. Some of the older players may begin indoor practice in March 2010. The New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association requires us to notify them of the different teams that we will field by the beginning of February. Therefore, we ask that you make your decision regarding your players participation in the spring lacrosse program as soon as possible and no later than the end of January 2010.

Where to go to Register!

To determine your players level (U9, U11, U13, or U15) please use the following chart:
As of December 31, 2009 if your child is:
8 years of age or under – then your player is U9
10 years of age or under – then your player is U11
12 years of age or under – then your player is U13
14 years of age or under – then your player is U15
If your child is young for his grade and all of his/her friends are playing in the next level up then you can register your player for that level. Players can play up but cannot play down.

The following forms must be completed on-line and the registration fee received in order to establish your player’s membership on a team roster by the February 1st deadline:
  • Registration Form -- Online
It is important to complete all questions on the form, as any    blank line items will be considered incomplete.
  • Registration Fee
The registration fee this year is $190 for boys and $170 for girls. Checks must be received by Wayne Demers at 7 Granite Street Exeter, NH 03833 before a registered player will be placed on a team. Note, this increase includes the cost of the US Lacrosse membership. All players will be registered with US Lacrosse through Exeter Youth Lacrosse.
  • Parents Consent for Treatment of Minor Form -- Online
This form gives the hospital and doctors permission to treat your player in the event of an accident and the EYLA coaches are unable to get in touch with the parent/guardian.
  • US Lacrosse Membership Number
This year Exeter Youth Lacrosse will register your player with US Lacrosse as part of your Exeter Youth Lacrosse registration. Note – you do not have to go to US Lacrosse to register your player. Your registration form provides EYLA with the required information needed on your player. It is through US Lacrosse that the EYLA receives its liability insurance and certificates of insurance when necessary
Team rosters will be established in early March 2010. Players who missed the February 1st, 2010 deadline will be placed on a waiting list and assigned a team if there is space available. Team size for A teams will be 23 players and team size for B teams will be a maximum of 25 players. When necessary we will field more than one B team as long as we have the parent volunteers to help manage and coach the team.
All families will be contacted in early March 2010 to learn the status of their player.

Equipment for the 2010 Spring Season:

Each player will be provided with a jersey and shorts. Each player must provide his or her own equipment. Girls will need a stick, goggles, and a mouth guard. Boys will need a helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, stick, mouth guard, and athletic supporter. All players should have rubber cleats for traction on the fields but sneakers are acceptable. Sneakers should be worn whenever we use indoor fields. U9, U11 & U13B boys can wear hockey helmets instead of a lacrosse helmet. All boys team players at the U13 A level and above must wear regulation lacrosse helmets. (We recommend a silver body with navy blue visor and chin piece.)
